Welcome to Wedding Wednesday. This is a new feature here at Storeybrook Photography. Each Wednesday I will be giving you tips and ideas to help make your wedding day special. I am hoping that some of my friends in the wedding industry will stop by and give you some tips also. A lot of people don't know I am certified wedding planner through the WPIC. After taking on so many weddings I thought that maybe it would be a good idea to take a course to help my brides.
Since Valentines Day was just a few days away, I thought I would do a post on what to do now that you are engaged... 1. Get a fresh manicure. Everyone will be checking out your hand and you want your nails to look perfect! 2. Be prepared to start answering questions... people will ask everything from how did he propose, to when is the wedding to do you have a date to what theme are you thinking of to what colors to so when are you going to start having kids to did you buy a house yet? Just take a deep breath! 3. Start some "secret" Pinterest boards. Trust me on this one. especially if you have your friends on Pinterest. I had so many people tell me "oh i saw what you pinned the other day if you do that for your wedding it will be perfect" or "you shouldn't do that" etc.. 4. Have an open discussion with your fiance about anything that scares you. Whether its about marriage, your wedding day, etc. because he probably has the same thoughts. 5. Advice. You are going to get advice from EVERYONE!! Just follow your gut! Its your wedding do what you want! 6. Get a journal and write down ideas or thoughts you have. Then it will be all in one place! 7. Take a spa day or a Mental Health day. Planning a wedding is stressful and your head is every where. Take a day and get a massage or go get your nails done or just sit home and watch netflix! 8. Start thinking of date. When do you want to get married. have you always dreamed of a a fall wedding? is spring a better time? do I want to get married on the hottest day of the year? 9. Start thinking of a guest list. Start jotting down names and marking names off. how big do you want your day? how small? 10. Get engagement photos done. Trust me you won't regret this! I can sit here all day and tell you so many wonderful things. But really at the end of the day enjoy every moment!! Time will fly by so fast and before you know it your wedding day will be here. :) Here are a few of my engagement photos taken by the talented Allison Taylor. This little guy was so sweet to have in the studio today. Though we tried to get him to smile he just wasnt in the mood. But thats ok I still got to cuddle him!
Jaxon was such a sweet little angel during his photo shoot today. Though we changed him 100 times.. ok maybe 3 or 4, he was such a great sport! !

I got married in 2013. Its hard to believe its been 3 years. It just seems like yesterday. When planning our wedding, I kept asking Jonathans approval on the wedding plans. He said the only thing I ask is that I don't want the guests to wait between the ceremony and the reception. So how was I going to do this.. I wanted a lot of photos.. I had lots of ideas. How was I going to plan this... Then I thought why not get my photos done before the wedding! I called my photographer and mentioned it to her. She was on board with my idea. She had so many wonderful ideas. My wedding day came. I got up, got my hair and make up done, then just enjoyed the morning with my wonderful wedding party. Then at 12pm I arrived at our location. Jonathan was hidden and I was anxiously awaiting to see him. I went and covered his eyes and he turned around. He saw me for the first time. It was just him, me and our photographer. It was a wonderful time. We just took the time we needed to enjoy each other. Now I look back at those first photos, I am so in love with them. I am so greatful that I did that. That night Jonathan and I laid in bed and talked about our wedding day. He asked me what my favorite thing was about the day. Without even thinking I said I got to spend the whole day with you. I am so glad we got our photos done before. I got to experience everything that day with him by my side. Even walking down the aisle to meet him I wasn't nervous at all. Then next few days after meeting up with guests from our wedding the one thing that they said to me was "I loved that there wasn't a long wait between the ceremony and reception". I said agreed with them! I know that this isnt an option for everyone. Some people love the idea others not so much. I never thought that I would like the idea of it. As I look back I would do it all over again. As a photographer I think that its a great idea! I am always mentioning to my brides what a great idea it is. Here are some of the gorgeous photos taken by the talented Tracy Waye Kelly |
