I am sitting here in the dark on New Years Eve morning. I am reviewing the last year in my head. I remember sitting here a year ago wondering what 2015 held for me, my family, and my business. Its hard to believe that time went by so quickly. It seems that it was just yesterday that 2015 was beginning. A lot has happened both good and bad. A lot has changed. It really was a great year now that I look back. At times I didn't know how I was going to get through. But I am so glad I held on!
In my personal life I am no longer an Alberta Wife. That I am thankful for. I love having my husband home. Its not always easy and there are days I want to ship him right back out there. But the good days out weigh the bad days. It wasn't easy being an Alberta wife. I loved that when I cleaned my house it stayed clean for a day or so. But doing things on my own or paying someone to do when I knew my husband can do it was just not my cup of tea! That was probably the major change in our lives. Oh! I can't forget Mr. Hank. The love of our lives. He really is. God may not have Blessed us with a baby but thats ok. We have Hank. He is Jons buddy, the boys pal, and my baby boy. He loves to go outside to play, he loves to go swimming, he loves to go hunting, he loves to go in the truck. He loves anything as long as you are there with him. He is stubborn as a mule but gives the best hugs and cuddles. I suddenly need a new bed because the 3 of us just do not fit in our bed alone lol. My professional life. Last year I was determined to work harder at my business and put my all into my photography. I took online courses and sat in webinars. Now I can look back and see how much my work has changed... for the better. I had an amazing summer, wedding season, fall season, Christmas season. And it doesn't look like its going to slow down anytime soon. That I am forever thankful for. I have been blessed with wonderful new clients and thankful for my returning clients. Each of you have taught me something over the last year and each one of you have become my friend. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me to take your precious memories. 2016 holds a lot of promise, dreams, and goals for me. I can't wait to see what is in store. We have a new beginning. Here are a few things that I am going to work on this year. 1. Being more positive. Sometimes situations happen and I am so negative and put my self down so much over it. But I want to be more positive. 2. Pray, read my bible more and go to church. I a lot of people don't know I pray a lot. Actually my drives to miramichi and home again I do a lot of praying and talking with God. Its my quiet time and my alone time. So if you see me driving and it looks likes I am talking to my self.. I am lol But I do have to work on reading my Bible more and going to church. 3. Standing up for myself and letting people know what I want. I am very good at letting people walk all over me. I have to start telling people how I feel and what I want. 4. Being Selfish. This kind of goes with #3. But it doesn't. This was my resolution for 2015. It started off really well. then I got sick. So that kind of changed everything. This year I am more determined then ever to take time for me. I need to take care of myself; Physically, mentally, and personally. 5. Newborn Photography. As a photographer this is one place I struggle the most. I love taking photos of babies. I just need to spend more time on new born photography. I already have a few classes I have signed up for. I am excited to take. These are just a few things that I am going to start working on in 2016. Today is a good day to sit back and think about 2015 and what you would want to change or keep the same. I would love to hear some of your wishes or resolutions for 2016!

When I first started dating Jonathan, one of the first people I met was Murray. He was an interesting character! A few months had past and he started dating Kayla. I knew Kayla but I didn't know she would become one of my dearest friends. I hate that I only get to see her a few times a year but when we are together we make the most of it! I think that is what makes our friendship sweeter. I couldn't be more happier for you both!
Just spending this snowy day working away on a wedding that I thought I would share with you. I love shooting weddings. Did you get engaged over the holidays and looking for a photographer? Clink on the wedding packages tab and all my info is there. Dates have been filling up.
I usually hate taking photos in the winter. But last winter I took an online course and had to take photos outside. I really learned about manual mode and white balance. I have a few tips that might help you make your winter/snow photos perfect! 1.Wear finger less gloves: gloves with removable fingertips give control while keeping your hands warm. 2. Keep your camera, flash and batteries as warm as possible. 3. Are you photos tinted blue? Change the white balance to cloudy to warm them up. 4. Use a UV or clear filter to protect the front element of your lens from moisture or snow. 5. watch your exposure. Snow can easily fool your meter to under expose a scene. 6. Use a lens hood. On a sunny day snow can reflect light off axis and cause the lens to flare. 7. White snow provides a natural reflector that gives a gorgeous glow to your photos. 8. Set your camera manually. if you shoot in auto the camera will view the scene as very bright and try and compensate. The result images will be dark and the snow will look grey. 9. When editing use a white vignette over a black one. white vignette can add a magical quality to snow photographs. 10. Cold is the mortal enemy of battery life and there's not much you can do about it. Make sure you bring spare batteries. 11. Icicles and Snowflakes: embrace the season and photograph 2 of the most beautiful aspects of winter. If the sun is shinning you can get some amazing photographs of icicles and use your macro setting to get close ups snowflakes. 12. Winter Wildlife: You may not see as many animals roaming around the cold winter weather. But the ones that you do see are sure to be beautiful. |
