Its summer and most of us are spending lots of time at the beach! This weekends forecast is to be hot and sunny. So I can see lots of families heading to the beach. Here are a few tips to help taking photos at the beach.
1. Be careful of your equipment. Be super careful when you are the beach with you camera. there's sand, sand and more sand. It just takes one little grain of sand to screw up your whole camera... I might have a little experience in that. If you feel the need to change a lens you are going to want to be extra careful you don't get any sand in your sensor. If its windy turn your back to the wind. 2. Capture the details I love details... why not capture them at the beach? think sandy toes, patterns in the sand, sand castles, and sometimes you meet crazy little creatures on the beach. 3. Consider a silhouette To get the best colors in the sky plan your trip closer to sunrise or sunset. The golden hour is the perfect time to get those photos. The golden hour happens an hour after sunrise and about an hour before sunset. It typically yellow orange light that gives its magical appearance. 4. Watch the Horizon horizons can also become more sloped and angled when you are taking photos. keep an eye on them and keep them straight. You probably wont get these bang on when shooting. So shoot a bit wider and leave room fro cropping when you edit them image. 5. Use black and white I have this photo of my step sons when were in PEI and they were playing in the waves and this big wave came up and they were jumping in it. Its a beautiful photos in color... but the whole photo changed when I made it black and white. Its one of my favorite photos. There's something about black and white photos at the beach. It brings them to life. Its also a great way to give some life to those overcasts or dull days which can often lead the beach photos look colorless. 6. Last but not least have fun!! Get some playful candid shots. Running in the sand, playing in the water, building a sand castle. Just have fun!
